Master Plan

Marceline, September 1, 2017:

Downtown Marceline Organization (DM), a not for profit, 501c3 organization, in conjunction with support from Main Street America (a subsidiary of the National Main Street Center), and Missouri Main Street Connection, Linn County Commission, City of Marceline and Marceline Area Chamber of Commerce, continues work on Phase 1 of the Marceline Master Plan. The first phase of the plan is an eighteen-month project focused on developing and implementing a revitalization plan for historic downtown Marceline and the community as a whole.

The DM Economic Vitality Committee (EVC), one of four standing committees within the organization and chaired by Garry Belt, recently conducted one of three surveys which obtained business and property owners' input on an extensive list of topics pertaining to the historic downtown district.  A second survey will be conducted with business owners outside of the historic downtown district.  Culminating the surveys will be a final survey to assess the availability of housing and properties that are open for residential or commercial construction.

Pat Kussman, an EVC committee member, and Michael Olinger. Executive Director of DM, presented results of the survey to town hall attendees and gave an overview the organization’s structure and role in the community.  The condensed results of the survey will be posted on the DM website (www.downtownmarceline.org) and Downtown Marceline Facebook page.
